Laird Tran Studio

Laird Tran studio is an architecture practice based in Broome, Western Australia. We are also a multidisciplinary studio focused on all things design.

Laird Tran was established by Nathan Laird and Edward Tran with the partners having over 10 years of shared experience in working in the Kimberley Region.  As a collaborative studio, we have a shared commitment to encourage, promote and contribute good design in our community.

Both partners are registered architects with the Architects Board of WA and A+ Members with the Australian Institute of Architects.

Through previous employment, the partners of Laird Tran Studio have successfully delivered a large range of multi-residential and commercial architecture projects in the Kimberley. These projects demonstrate our capacity to deal with the practical and legislative requirements of delivering a project on time, on budget and in alignment with the project brief.

Environmental Sustainability in Design

We are focused on creating buildings that respond well to the extreme climate experienced in the North West of Australia. We have a clear understanding of the principles that allow building occupants to filter out any negative environmental constraints (i.e. solar heat gains) and encourage positive natural opportunities such as ventilation and passive natural lighting.

Local Authority and Legislative Guidance

In addition to any Local or State Authority requirements for compliance, there will be a number of legislative constraints such as the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and the Australian Standards that will apply to projects. Laird Tran Studio have the relevant experience and access to resources required to guide clients through these legislative regulations.

Pro Bono Work

We participate in the % for pro bono program, donating a portion of our budgeted billable hours annually. Our Pro Bono policy is focused towards projects that are for the greater good and not for personal gain. Such projects must have an ethical outcome.
